SOOO Outdated!

I just realized that I have not posted on this blog for over a year! I have been so busy with Enjoy Utah! , the SL Visitors Bureau, and Squawkbox Sound, that I haven't had time to come over here and post! Most of our pictures and updates are now on my Facebook page. I have also been managing my dad's shop facebook page and blog, Gines Auto Service.

Anyway, sorry for the lack of posting! That's what we've been up to lately.

Our Adventure at the original site of Saltair

I am amazed that there is not a monument or something depicting this historical site! The site where Saltair is now is NOT the original site it was built on. It was originally about 2 miles East of where it stands now. It was built in 1893, and included the Ship Cafe. It was destroyed by fire in 1925. The contents of the Ship Cafe burned and were buried under water. It was then rebuilt into Saltair II, which was again destroyed by fire in the 1970s. You can read the full history here:

You can drive out to the site today, and all of the dishes, a bathroom sink, the pillars, and many more things are out there just SITTING waiting to be discovered! Here are some pictures of our adventure out there in October. There is also a picture of The Beach Boys standing on pillars during one of their trips to Saltair, and then the picture how it looks today. I have always been interested in Saltair: My Great Grandma used to frequent Saltair in the early 1900's, my Grandma used to go there dancing, swimming at Black Rock, and riding the rollercoaster when she was a teenager, and that is where I met my husband in 1997 at a dance at Saltair III, where it stands now.

Memory Grove Park

Memory Grove Park is one of my favorite places to go! There's something "magical" about it! You'll notice a picture of the kids sitting on a bench: that is the bench where Russ proposed, August 1998! :) I am LOVING my new digital camera and the pictures I am able to take with it!

Making Cookies

The kids have been dying to make cookies. Here are some pictures of us in action!

Daybreak Beach

For the 24th of July, we spent the day at Daybreak Beach. We even took our inflatable raft and floated around for a while. We went with our good friends, Sherri and Patrick Sisk, and their kids.

Whiskey Springs

For my brother Chad's birthday, we had a picnic at Whiskey Springs. We used to go there all the time as a kid. It's in the mountains between Heber and Daniels Lodge. It has a grassy area to run and play, a nature trail, fishing, and a shallow creek for the kids to play in.

Summer Fun in the pool!

We bought a small pool with a slide at Sam's Club the other day, and the kids have had a blast playing in it! It's nice that the weather is FINALLY getting warm (after a long, rainy June!!)

Allison graduated from Preschool last Thursday!

Al Lampkin Magic Show!

The other night we took the kids to a magic show put on by one of our networking partners and also my dad's customer, and he did a great job! He was funnier than heck! Here is a picture of the kids with him afterward.
